Forward planning is a crucial part of the wedding process and when it comes to the food, it is vital to look at all your options and decide well in advance what you want, how many guests you need to cater for, and what your budget is. Croxford’s creates wedding feasts and wedding cakes and recognises the value of being organised well in advance, and the fact that a wedding is a highly charged emotional event that needs careful handling. We recently had a bride-to-be change the date of her wedding because we were already booked for her original date! You really do have to organise the whole thing well in advance to make sure you get exactly what you want. It’s the most important day of your life so you have to make sure you are happy with all your arrangements.

It’s not just about the food-we offer a very personal service. After all putting food in your mouth is one of the most personal things you can do-it all has to be right and we want everyone to be happy-especially at a wedding. There are so many options for wedding food now that it is well worthwhile taking plenty of time really deciding what you want. We specialise in creating menus for people with specific dietary and cultural requirements, so these factors should not be a barrier to any successful wedding day food. One thing that is often overlooked is the fact that the bride’s mother is usually contributing to the cost and is very involved in the day. Part of our job is to do some really important hand holding and make sure that everyone involved feels confident and as relaxed as possible about the menu for the big day.

To make sure you have everything covered for your wedding, consider these facts:

Decide on an optimum number of guests and how you will split the day-will you have food straight after the service AND in the evening?

Decide on a venue and then plan what you would like to eat. Are you thinking of canapés and wedding cocktails? A traditional wedding feast with all the trimmings, or something really different and contemporary?

Spend time researching local caterers and ask around-personal recommendations are a good start, and from a trusted source cannot be beaten.

The bottom line is think ahead, plan and budget properly and talk to whoever is going to provide your food so that everyone knows exactly what is going on. Then you can sit back and be secure in the knowledge that your wedding feast will be perfect-just like your special day.
